Soccer Game Preview: Hammond vs. St. Thomas Aquinas

Hammond hasn't had much luck against St. Thomas Aquinas recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Hammond Tornadoes will head out to face off against the St. Thomas Aquinas Falcons at 5:30 p.m.

Hammond is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They came up short against Northshore, falling 9-0. While losing is never fun, the Tornadoes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana soccer rankings (they are ranked 111th, while the Panthers are ranked 12th).

Meanwhile, St. Thomas Aquinas' and Northlake Christian's matchup on Friday was close at halftime, but St. Thomas Aquinas turned on the heat in the second half with two goals. St. Thomas Aquinas never let Northlake Christian onto the board and left with a 3-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won ten games by three goals or more so far this season.

St. Thomas Aquinas' victory bumped their record up to 12-8-2. As for Hammond, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8-2.

Hammond suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to St. Thomas Aquinas in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Hammond avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
