Softball Game Preview: Belfast Lions vs. Nokomis Warriors

The Belfast Lions will challenge the Nokomis Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Belfast is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

Belfast's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Oceanside as they made off with a 6-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Jordyn MacKay was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. Those 15 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Belfast let Katience Parenteau and Maggie Metcalf run wild. Parenteau went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs, while Metcalf went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Parenteau has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Danica Gray, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Nokomis was not the first on the board on Saturday, but they got there more often. They skirted past Hall-Dale 5-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.

Belfast pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Nokomis, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.
