Softball Game Preview: Glenwood Tigers vs. Clay Panthers

Glenwood hasn't had much luck against Clay recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Glenwood has given up an average of 25.1 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Glenwood is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They lost 23-2 to West Union.

Meanwhile, Clay entered their matchup against Southeastern on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Clay fell just short of Southeastern by a score of 6-4.

Laney Shepherd put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off ten hits (and not a single walk). Shepherd was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Shepherd wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Penix, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Another was Elin Shaw, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two doubles.

Clay suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 11-7. As for Glenwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.

Glenwood might still be hurting after the 18-0 loss they got from Clay in their previous meeting on April 7th. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
