Oakwood hasn't had much luck against Georgetown-Ridge Farm recently, but that could start to change  on Monday. The Comets will be playing at home against the Buffaloes  at 4:30  p.m. Oakwood is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7  runs per game  this season.
Oakwood took a 15-run  loss the last time they faced off against Westville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Comets skirted past the Tigers  7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  victory the Comets have posted  since April 21st.
 Irene Rangel made a splash while hitting and pitching. She  pitched seven innings while giving up  four earned  (and two unearned) runs off   six  hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-2 with two  runs.

 In other batting news,  Bella Bradford was  incredible,  firing off two  home runs and six  RBI while going 2-for-3. Those  six  RBI gave  her a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Georgetown-Ridge Farm was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight  defeat. They were two  runs away from ending the streak, but they lost  a   4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Iroquois West. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  loss the Buffaloes have suffered  since April 6, 2024.
 Chloe Stephenson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered  just two earned  (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks.
 On the hitting side, Georgetown-Ridge Farm saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Olivia Pearson, who  went 1-for-3 with one  triple.  Emersyn Wilson also deserves some recognition as  she  brought in her first  RBI of the season.
 Oakwood has  been performing  well recently as they've  won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9-1 record  this season. The  wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Georgetown-Ridge Farm, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-16.
Georgetown-Ridge Farm's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them:  Oakwood hasn't had any issues making contact this season,  having earned a batting average of .338. It's a different story for Georgetown-Ridge Farm, though, as  they've  only  averaged .229. Will they be able to contain Oakwood's hitters?
 Everything went Oakwood's way against Georgetown-Ridge Farm when the teams last played  back in March, as Oakwood made off with  an  18-3 victory. Do  the Comets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Buffaloes turn the tables on them?  We'll have the answer soon enough.
