Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Loss Ends Brennan's Winning Streak

Brennan and Bellaire squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Brennan had to settle for second. They took a 65-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bellaire Cardinals. The Bears' defeat signaled the end of their 22-game winning streak.

Loss or not, Brennan got some senior leadership from Kingston Flemings and Camden Cowgill. Flemings posted 23 points and four steals, while Cowgill earned 18 points and seven steals. The matchup was Flemings' fourth in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Talon Todd, who had eight points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Brennan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 18 consecutive contests.

Brennan's defeat dropped their record down to 33-3. As for Bellaire, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 26-10.

Brennan does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bellaire, they will take on Duncanville at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Duncanville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 17 games -- so hopefully Bellaire likes a good challenge.
