Baseball Game Preview: Highland Rams vs. Rigby Trojans

Highland has gone 9-1 against Rigby recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Rams will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trojans at 3:30 p.m.

Things were looking good for Highland after they put the first runs on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Madison by a score of 5-4.

Highland got a good showing from Porter Burrows, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Burrows has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Highland saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lana Alvarico, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Rigby, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top against Century by a score of 4-1 on Saturday. The win was some much needed relief for the Trojans as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Rigby's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Highland, their loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-8.

Highland beat Rigby 7-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
