Preview: Archmere Academy Auks vs. Howard Wildcats
The Archmere Academy Auks will head out on the road to face off against the Howard Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Archmere Academy sitting on three straight victories and Howard on five.
Archmere Academy can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 44-6 win over Tower Hill.
Miles Kempski and Cole Fenice were among the main playmakers for Archmere Academy as the former threw for 189 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 passes and the latter gained 147 total yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Howard faced Odessa in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Howard secured a 30-25 W over Odessa on Friday. That's two games straight that Howard has won by exactly five points.
Howard can attribute much of their success to Rahsaan Matthews, Jr, who threw for 115 yards and two touchdowns.
Archmere Academy's victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 4-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.0 points per game. As for Howard, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Archmere Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Howard in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, winning 13-0. Does Archmere Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Howard turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
