Baseball Recap: Sarasota Has No Trouble Against Riverview Sarasota

The third road match was the charm for Sarasota, as they earned their first road win of the season. They blew past the Riverview Sarasota Rams 9-1 on Friday. The Sailors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.

Braedon Mackay made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mackay was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other pitching news, Sarasota got a great performance from Cesar Garmendia as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Garmendia has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, Sarasota let Patrick Drymon and Mark Metcalf run wild. Drymon went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base, while Metcalf scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That triple was Drymon's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Boyd, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 5-2-1. As for Riverview Sarasota, they dropped their record down to 2-5 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sarasota will face off against Venice at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Sarasota: 1.5, Venice: 1.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Riverview Sarasota, they will square off against Parrish Community at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Parrish Community is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.3 runs per game this season.
