Football Recap: Westover Starts Season with Defeat at Home + How To Watch

Westover unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 28-6 to the Union Pines Vikings on Friday. The Wolverines were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2016.

Eric Kline threw for 159 yards and one TD. Joseph Tunewald was his top target, picking up 56 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Union Pines to victory, but perhaps none more so than Adrian Colon, who rushed for 102 yards and one score. Hayne Tobias was in the mix as well, providing the Vikings with two touchdowns.

Westover didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 37-33 defeat against Gray's Creek on the 29th. As for Union Pines, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 21-16 loss against Pinecrest on the 29th.
