Baseball Game Preview: Willow Glen Rams vs. Westmont Warriors

For the second straight game, Willow Glen will face off against Westmont. The Rams will head out on the road to square off against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Willow Glen is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last nine games.

Willow Glen had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Westmont on Wednesday. The Rams put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 8-2 victory.

Dante Pini looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tommy Moran was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Austin Korba, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Willow Glen's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Westmont, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-20-1 record this season.
