Baseball Recap: Ramar Smith Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Kingsbury

While Whitehaven's win against Kingsbury wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers came out on top against the Falcons on Tuesday by a score of 9-7 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since May 3, 2024.

Andrew Robinson and Jaylon Dodson were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Robinson didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Dodson pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Whitehaven is 2-0-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-5 otherwise. At the plate, Robinson went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double, while Dodson went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ramar Smith was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Whitehaven's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 0-4-1 when he doesn't). Jarvis Neely also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Whitehaven was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. They are 4-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Whitehaven's win bumped their record up to 4-5-1. As for Kingsbury, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9-1 record this season.
