Basketball Recap: Mattea King Key Part of a Team Effort in Eagles Win

Model Secondary School for the Deaf won the last time they faced Washington Latin Public Charter School and things went their way on Friday too. The Model Secondary School for the Deaf Eagles were the clear victor by a 36-13 margin over the Washington Latin Public Charter School Lions. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Eagles had established a 21 point advantage.

Model Secondary School for the Deaf's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mattea King led the charge by putting up four points and 14 rebounds. King is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Stella Ciulla, who posted 14 points and four steals.

Despite the loss, Washington Latin Public Charter School still got an impressive performance from Victoria Guevara, who had nine points.

The victory made it two in a row for Model Secondary School for the Deaf and bumps their season record up to 3-2. As for Washington Latin Public Charter School, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-3.

Model Secondary School for the Deaf didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-22 loss against School Without Walls on the 7th. As for Washington Latin Public Charter School, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 49-20 defeat against Calverton on the 7th.
