Basketball Recap: University Piles Up the Points Against South Gate

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask University). They blew past the South Gate Rams, posting a 70-30 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.

University was led to victory by Connor Cao and Abdallah Shami. Cao shot 69% from the field en route to 23 points and four steals, while Shami dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds. With that strong performance, Shami is now averaging an impressive 2.4 steals per game. Kaden Moss was another key player, putting up eight points.

University smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

University's record now sits at 2-3. As for South Gate, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Looking ahead, University will take on Mission Viejo in a tournament on Wednesday. As for South Gate, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Carson at 6:00 p.m. on December 3.
