Basketball Game Preview: Vassar Vulcans vs. Millington Cardinals

Vassar is 2-8 against Millington since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Vassar Vulcans will venture away from home to take on the Millington Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. Vassar is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52 points per game this season.

Vassar is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Friday. They came up short against Laker, falling 63-42.

Vassar's loss came about despite a quality game from Austin Long, who went 8 for 20 on his way to 20 points. That was a full 47.6% of Vassar's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Brown, who earned four points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Millington waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Tigers 75-47. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 23 points or more this season.

Millington pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 23.5 points. As for Vassar, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.

Vassar was dealt a bruising 68-40 loss at the hands of Millington when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Vassar avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
