Recap: Harding County Ranchers vs. Hettinger/Scranton Black Devils
The Harding County Ranchers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 24 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Hettinger/Scranton with a sharp 60-36 victory on Tuesday. The win was just business as usual for Harding County, who after four games remain undefeated this season.
Leading Harding County to victory were Jaelyn Wendt and Claire Verhulst. Wendt dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds, while Verhulst scored 16 points along with three steals. The match was Verhulst's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsi Costello, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Harding County's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.6 points per game. As for Hettinger/Scranton, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harding County will take on Bowman County co-op [Bowman/Rhame] at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bowman County co-op [Bowman/Rhame] is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. Hettinger/Scranton will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Center-Stanton at 10:00 a.m. on December 29th. Center-Stanton is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
