Basketball Recap: Palm Beach Central Beats Pine for Their Third Straight Win

Palm Beach Central entered their tilt with Pine on Wednesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They enjoyed a cozy 59-41 win over the Pine Knights. Given the Broncos' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the Knights are ranked 406th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Palm Beach Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ryan Waugh out in front who posted nine points. What's more, Waugh also racked up four assists, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Xavian Charles was another key player, as he made all 5 shots he took for 10 points and six rebounds.

Wade Singleton and Thomas Sawicki certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Singleton scored 18 points and eight boards, while Sawicki put up 14 points and eight rebounds. The game was Singleton's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jude Kolkana, who had six points.

Palm Beach Central is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Pine, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-10.

Palm Beach Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 49-31 defeat against Royal Palm Beach on the 24th. Pine has also already played their next game, a 55-35 loss against Atlantic Christian on the 24th.
