Football Recap: Stillwater Pioneers vs. Union Redhawks
Stillwater had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past the Union Redhawks 41-15. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Pioneers also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.
Stillwater found their leader in sophomore Jaedan Adams, who rushed for 248 yards and two TDs while picking up 9.9 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Satank Taptto, who rushed for 21 yards and three touchdowns.
One reason for the win was Stillwater's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Nehemiah Kolone, Bryson Brown, and Kyle Stokes, who each picked up one sack apiece. Jakoby Petree was another major factor on D, making 11 total tackles (2.0 for loss) and snagged an interception.
Union's loss came despite strong showings from Tayveon Parry-Speight and LJ McGhee. Parry-Speight gained 142 total yards and a touchdown, while McGhee rushed for 86 yards and one score. Parry-Speight showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 60 yards.
Union's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
Coming up, Stillwater will take on Enid at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Union, they will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against Jenks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
