The Western Boone Stars will face off against the Danville Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Western Boone is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Clinton Prairie just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Monday. They lost 12-1 to the Gophers. The contest marked the Stars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Western Boone saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Quinn Westerfeld, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Danville). They blew past Covington 14-5 on Monday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Warriors with their most commanding win of the season.
Ethan Wooten made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Danville got a massive performance out of Aiden Chiodo, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Chiodo has posted since back in May of 2024. Seth Dennison was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Danville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Danville is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Western Boone, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.
Western Boone came out on top in a nail-biter against Danville in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. Do the Stars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
