Basketball Recap: Premont Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Premont can now relate to. They were beaten by the Refugio Bobcats 91-25 on Monday. The Cowboys have struggled against the Bobcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Refugio got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Laken Cancino out in front who posted 21 points. Jazaelynne Lewis was another key player, putting up 18 points.

Premont's loss dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Refugio, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 28-5 record this season.

Premont does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Refugio, they will take on San Saba on Friday. San Saba knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 games -- so hopefully Refugio likes a good challenge.
