Football Recap: Davenport Takes a Loss

If Davenport was feeling good fresh off their 52-30 takedown of Wetumka last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs fell 36-32 to the Alex Longhorns on Friday. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their loss to the Longhorns from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Despite the loss, Davenport still got an impressive performance from Brody Robinson, who picked up 167 receiving yards and a pair of scores, and also rushed for 99 yards and one TD on only 11 carries. Another player making a difference was Chase Mitchell, who threw for 231 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 18 passes.

Davenport now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Alex, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Looking ahead, Davenport will challenge Depew at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Alex, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Empire at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
