Basketball Recap: Memphis East Falls Despite Big Games from Darryus Wright and Markel Townsel

After flying high against Trezevant on Tuesday, Memphis East came back down to earth. The contest between the Mustangs and the Lausanne Collegiate Lynx didn't end well, with the Mustangs falling 63-44. The matchup marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Memphis East's loss on Thursday came despite strong showings from Markel Townsel and Darryus Wright. Townsel posted nine points and four steals, while Wright earned ten points. Jordan Arbuckle was another key player, putting up four points.

Lausanne Collegiate found their leader in sophomore Zuri McClure, who shot 56% from the field to rack up 16 points and seven rebounds. McClure has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Imir 'Trey' Harper, who scored nine points and four steals.

Memphis East has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. As for Lausanne Collegiate, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Memphis East wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 70-32 win against Crosstown on the 12th. As for Lausanne Collegiate, they have also already played their next contest, a 96-18 victory against Pleasant View on the 12th.
