Basketball Recap: Edgewood Comes Up Short

After flying high against Merritt Island last Friday, Edgewood came back down to earth. The Edgewood Red Wolves had to suffer through a 59-22 loss at the hands of the Bayside Bears. While losing is never fun, the Red Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while the Bears are ranked 133rd).

Bayside got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Emilia Grant out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Donia Moaoui, who went 6 for 11 on her way to 13 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Edgewood's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Bayside, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-7.

Edgewood has already played their next match, a 39-30 victory against Vero Beach on the 24th. As for Bayside, they will challenge Cocoa at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Bayside has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
