Baseball Game Preview: Concord Academy Eagles vs. Gaston Christian Eagles

Concord Academy is 2-8 against Gaston Christian since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. Concord Academy will be playing at home against Gaston Christian at 4:30 p.m.

Concord Academy lost 8-1 to Hickory Grove Christian on Tuesday.

Concord Academy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kade Brown, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Gaston Christian had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They never let the Knights get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won six matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Xander Sutton was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Meridian Leffew, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Gaston Christian's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Concord Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.
