Memorial Day triumphant thanks to a strong effort from McKenzie King

Recap: Memorial Day Matadors vs. Islands Sharks
The Memorial Day Matadors had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They escaped with a win on Friday against Islands by the margin of a single free throw, 30-29. The victory was just what Memorial Day needed coming off of a 68-27 defeat in their prior matchup.
Memorial Day can attribute much of their success to McKenzie King, who scored 16 points along with 8 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Julie Toub, who scored 6 points along with 10 rebounds.
Memorial Day's win bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Islands, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Memorial Day will challenge Bridges Prep at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Bridges Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Thursday. As for Islands, they will head out on the road to face off against The Habersham School at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully The Habersham School focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 33 on Friday.
