Baseball Recap: Auburndale Gets the Win

Auburndale won against Discovery last Friday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Bloodhounds came out on top against the Lake Gibson Braves by a score of 6-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-1 back in February.

Jacob Bolin made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Bolin wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carter Brattlie, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Auburndale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Auburndale and bumps their season record up to 7-16. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Lake Gibson, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-17.

Coincidentally, Auburndale and Lake Gibson will both be playing Davenport the next time they take the field. The Bloodhounds will host the Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Braves will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
