Largo hasn't had much luck against Hollins recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Largo Packers will take on the Hollins Royals at 7:00 p.m. Largo will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Last Friday, Largo beat Seminole 5-2.
Laila Weber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Largo saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lily Meloy, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Claire Meloy was another, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Hollins came up short against Seminole on Tuesday and fell 9-5. The Royals haven't had much luck with the Warhawks recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Ava Vargas was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. She has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
Largo pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Hollins, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Largo hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having got 0 of their hits per game. However, it's not like Hollins struggles in that department as they've got 0 of their hits this season. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Largo might still be hurting after the 15-5 defeat they got from Hollins in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Largo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
