Football Recap: Mead Takes a Loss

Mead extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 3-4. They were dealt a 56-18 loss at the hands of the Shelby-Rising City Huskies. The matchup marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Mead had strong showings from Mason Reed, who rushed for 33 yards and one score, and Tony Engel, who picked up 61 receiving yards and one TD. Engel also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing one fumble and making eight total tackles.

As for Shelby-Rising City, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.7 points on average this season.

Shelby-Rising City was led to victory by Logan Lindsley and Carter Eickmeier. Lindsley rushed for 144 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries, while Eickmeier rushed for 150 yards and one score while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Those 144 rushing yards gave Lindsley a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Shelby-Rising City is set to face off against their familiar foe McCool Junction at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Lindsley and Carson McDonald.
