Basketball Recap: Wes-Del Takes a Loss

Wes-Del was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 19th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt a 73-34 loss at the hands of the Centerville Bulldogs. The Warriors lost against the Bulldogs in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 40-34 score last time.

Caroline Caward and Aubrey Antrim certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Caward posted 17 points, while Antrim scored four points. The dominant performance gave Caward a new career-high in points.

Taelynn Swartz continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Centerville, dropping a double-double on 39 points and 11 boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which Swartz has scored at least a third of Centerville's points. Olivia Hunter was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine assists.

Wes-Del's defeat dropped their record down to 0-18. As for Centerville, they pushed their record up to 8-11 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Wes-Del has already played their next matchup (against Elwood), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Centerville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 62-30 victory against Muncie Burris on the 21st.
