Softball Recap: Tri-Township Tigers vs. Kouts Mustangs & Fillies
Tri-Township had lost eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 0-7 to make it nine. They came up short against the Kouts Mustangs & Fillies, falling 17-1. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by exactly 16 runs.
Tri-Township saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kirstyn Dailey, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Dailey has hit this season.
As for Kouts, their record now sits at 4-6. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
On Kouts' side, Katelyn Kleckner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave Kleckner a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lillian Earle, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Cheyanne Bailey was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.
