Basketball Game Preview: Pine View Panthers vs. Desert Hills Thunder

Two dominant guards in Jelani Odjegba and Ben Chase are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Pine View Panthers will venture away from home to take on the Desert Hills Thunder at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Pine View is headed into Wednesday's match hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. The game between them and Hurricane didn't end well, with Pine View falling 67-51.

Meanwhile, Desert Hills hadn't done well against Snow Canyon recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Desert Hills walked away with a 42-35 win over Snow Canyon.

Pine View better keep an eye on Freeman Springer. He was instrumental in Desert Hills' win, going 5 of 6 on his way to 13 points and eight boards. The dominant performance gave Springer a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase, who posted 14 points and five boards.

Desert Hills' victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Pine View, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6.

Pine View came up short against Desert Hills in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 55-45. Can Pine View avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
