Volleyball Recap: Blacksburg Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Blacksburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They came up short against the Brashier Middle College Charter Bengal, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bengal this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in September.

While Blacksburg was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-23, 25-17.

Cherysh Gomez paced Blacksburg's offense, picking up seven kills. Gomez got some help from Emma Gaut and her seven assists. Gomez was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Madelyn Gobeli was a one-woman wrecking crew For Brashier Middle College Charter. as she had 21 digs and one assist. That's the most digs Gobeli has posted since back in September.

Blacksburg's loss dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Brashier Middle College Charter, their victory ended a three-match drought on the road and puts them at 7-9.

Blacksburg didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against High Point Academy on the 16th. Brashier Middle College Charter has also already played their next match (against Liberty), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
