Baseball Recap: Indian Springs Comes Up Short

If Indian Springs was riding high fresh off their 12-2 takedown of Non Varsity Opponent on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Thunderbirds fell 6-3 to the Lake Mead Christian Academy Eagles on Tuesday. The Thunderbirds haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Jacob Gourley put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Gourley wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Adam Groeblinghoff, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Groeblinghoff is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Indian Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Lake Mead Christian Academy, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-1.

Coming up, Indian Springs will challenge Spring Mountain at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.64 runs per game on average), something the Thunderbirds will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lake Mead Christian Academy, they will square off against Laughlin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
