Baseball Recap: Iola Triumphs

While Iola's win against Santa Fe Trail wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mustangs had just enough and edged out the Chargers 6-5 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now won four in a row.

Kale Pratt made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Pratt was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jakolby Hill, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Broden Emerson also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Iola's record is now 13-6. As for Santa Fe Trail, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-11.

Iola will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Chargers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
