Recap: Heritage Panthers vs. Viera Hawks
The Heritage Panthers lost against the Viera Hawks back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Heritage fell 37-28 to Viera. Heritage has not had much luck with Viera recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Heritage had strong showings from Trishay Collins, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds, and Gionna Goodlow, who scored six points. Collins scored a full 39.3% of Heritage's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Phantasia Lauriston was her usual excellent self, scoring 19 points for Viera. The contest was Lauriston's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kylie Winslow, who scored three points along with four steals.
Heritage now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Viera, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Heritage will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Edgewood at 4:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Viera will be home for the holidays to greet Palm Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Palm Bay has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 177 points over their last three games.
