Football Recap: East Wake Takes a Loss + How To Watch

East Wake fell victim to Franklinton and their airtight defense on Friday. They took a 13-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Red Rams. The contest was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but the Warriors couldn't quite close it out.

Maurice Maloy threw for 96 yards on eight of 15 attempts. Dylan Kiser was his top target, picking up 52 receiving yards. On the ground, Calen Gerard rushed for 53 yards.

Franklinton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Amani Blacknall led the charge by picking up 130 receiving yards and one touchdown. Those 130 receiving yards gave Blacknall a new career-high.

East Wake's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Franklinton, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Wake will challenge Vance County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will be up against the Vipers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 39.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Franklinton, they will take on Wake Forest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Red Rams surely won't give up without a fight.
