Baseball Recap: Harvest Prep Takes a Loss

Harvest Prep extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 20 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-12 in the process. They came up short against the Bishop Rosecrans Bishops, falling 18-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 21-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Bishop Rosecrans, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The result was nothing new for Bishop Rosecrans, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Bishop Rosecrans' part, Hayden Perdue was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Perdue has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

In other pitching news, Jacobie Balo and Coen Grandstaff dominated on the mound. Balo went 3-for-4 with four runs and two stolen bases, while Grandstaff went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one stolen base. Grandstaff is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Kohen Harris, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jordan Bonifield, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Harvest Prep is set to square off against their familiar foe Berne Union at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Bishop Rosecrans will challenge rival Fairfield Christian Academy at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bishops 3.3, the Knights 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
