Basketball Recap: Chatham Central Starts off Right with Win over Ascend Leadership + How To Watch

Chatham Central gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 37-22 win over the Ascend Leadership Aviators.

Among those leading the charge was Addison Goldston, who posted eight points and seven rebounds. Those eight points gave her a new career-high. Lizzy Murray was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.

Chatham Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 14 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Several Aviators players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kimari Cross, who had four points along with 12 boards and six steals. Cross is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in each of the last four games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Samara Tranquille, who scored seven points and four steals.

Chatham Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 67-17 victory against Central Carolina Academy on the 20th. As for Ascend Leadership, they have also already played their next contest, a 61-27 defeat against Hoke County on the 17th.
