Basketball Recap: Liberty Tree Academy War Eagles vs. Twin Peaks Classical Academy Timberwolves
Liberty Tree Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 46-33 to the Twin Peaks Classical Academy Timberwolves. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the War Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 56-36 back in December of 2024.
Despite the defeat, Liberty Tree Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kaleb Mendez went 7 for 15 on his way to 16 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Seth Burns also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.
Twin Peaks Classical Academy found their leader in sophomore Matthew Wurth, who posted eight points and 14 boards. Wurth has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Angel Ortega, who earned 11 points.
Liberty Tree Academy now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Twin Peaks Classical Academy, they pushed their record up to 7-5 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Liberty Tree Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 101-12 loss against Scottsbluff on the 30th. Twin Peaks Classical Academy has also already played their next game, a 57-50 defeat against Addenbrooke Classical Academy on the 27th.
