Softball Recap: Summersville Wildcats vs. Southern Reynolds Whippets
Summersville put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Monday. Everything went their way against the Southern Reynolds Whippets as the Summersville Wildcats made off with a 12-1 win. The victory was familiar territory for Summersville who now have three in a row.
Riley Buttress was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Buttress was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Buttress is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stolen at least one every time she's taken the field this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hailey Michel, who went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Tara Bryant, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
