Baseball Game Preview: West Davidson Dragons vs. Salisbury Hornets

West Davidson has gone 9-1 against Salisbury recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Dragons will host the Hornets at 7:00 p.m. The timing is sure in West Davidson's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Salisbury has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Friday as neither West Davidson nor East Davidson made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Dragons' pitcher stepped up to hand the Golden Eagles a 7-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won 11 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Asher Jordan's shutout, as he gave up just four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, West Davidson let Carson Correll and Ethan McCloskey run wild. Correll went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while McCloskey went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Salisbury and North Rowan, and Salisbury kept the tradition alive. The Hornets walked away with a 10-6 win over the Cavaliers on Monday.

West Davidson is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Salisbury, their win bumped their record up to 8-16.

West Davidson took their victory against Salisbury in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 14-4 score. Do the Dragons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
