Softball Recap: Stafford Wins Going Away Against Massaponax

Stafford was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Massaponax on Monday. The Indians put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 12-4 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Indians as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Angela Dreistadt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Emily Stone was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bailey Fillis, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Stafford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Stafford's win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Massaponax, their loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-18.

As of now, neither Stafford nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
