Baseball Game Preview: St. Ignatius College Preparatory Wildcats vs. Archbishop Mitty Monarchs

For the second straight game, St. Ignatius College Preparatory will face off against Archbishop Mitty. The Wildcats will square off against the Monarchs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Ignatius College Preparatory will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Archbishop Mitty's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: St. Ignatius College Preparatory hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Wildcats never let the Monarchs get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Tuesday. St. Ignatius College Preparatory's win was all the more impressive since the Monarchs were averaging only four runs allowed on the season.

Tycco Giometti looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Archer Horn was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was DJ Delaney, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI.

St. Ignatius College Preparatory always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

St. Ignatius College Preparatory pushed their record up to 7-2-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Archbishop Mitty, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.
