Softball Game Preview: Hampton-Dumont/CAL vs. Algona Bulldogs

Hampton-Dumont/CAL will challenge the Algona Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.

On Friday, Hampton-Dumont/CAL didn't have quite enough to beat Humboldt and fell 6-5.

While Algona didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over Clear Lake on Friday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Algona pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Hampton-Dumont/CAL, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Hampton-Dumont/CAL came out on top in a nail-biter against Algona in their previous meeting back in June of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. Will Hampton-Dumont/CAL repeat their success, or does Algona has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
