Soccer Game Preview: Westside vs. Callaway

The Westside Seminoles will face off against the Callaway Cavaliers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Westside will be strutting in after a win while Callaway will be coming in after a defeat.

Westside's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Rutland with a sharp 4-0 victory. The Seminoles better thank their lucky stars for the performance of Kaila Lucas, as she scored every single goal for her team.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 12 goals the game before, Callaway was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They came up short against Pike County, falling 6-0. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Pirates are ranked 19th).

Callaway's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-4. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four matchups. As for Westside, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 4-4.

Westside might still be hurting after the 12-5 defeat they got from Callaway when the teams last played last Tuesday. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Westside was down 9-2.
