Baseball Game Preview: Avon Park Red Devils vs. St. Albans Bulldogs

The Avon Park Red Devils will face off against the St. Albans Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Avon Park was handed a ten-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Port Charlotte 5-3.

Eric Harrison was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in February. Carson Cloud also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday St. Albans sidestepped Potomac School for a 3-2 win.

Jacob Romhilt looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, St. Albans saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Henry Evans, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

The victory got St. Albans back to even at 1-1. As for Avon Park, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.

Avon Park came up short against St. Albans when the teams last played back in March of 2023, falling 5-0. Can Avon Park avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
