Basketball Recap: Coronado Comes Up Short

Coronado was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a blow against the Dysart Demons, falling 47-19. The Dons lost against the Demons in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 74-10 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Coronado lost, don't look at Kailyn Holsey. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on 11 rebounds and nine steals. Holsey has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played.

Brianna Brown was nothing short of spectacular for Dysart: she almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Brown has scored at least a third of Dysart's points. Katie Stewart was another key player, putting up six points along with 13 rebounds and three steals.

Coronado's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Dysart, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-9.

Coronado wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 47-41 win against Desert Sunrise on the 24th. Dysart has also already played their next contest, a 44-19 victory against Cortez on the 24th.
