St. James has gone 6-1 against West Florence recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Sharks will take on the Knights at 5:30 p.m. St. James will be strutting in after a victory while West Florence will be coming in after a defeat.
St. James will bounce into Wednesday's matchup after beating Carolina Forest, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Sharks won by a set and slipped past the Panthers 3-2.
St. James was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (102-100), but they still managed to win. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-18, 25-23, 16-25, 15-11.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, West Florence's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They came up short against Lugoff-Elgin, falling 3-0.
While West Florence ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-23, 25-22.
St. James will have to keep a close watch on Ansley White and Laura Tiller, a pair of players who had a big impact on West Florence's prior game. White had 20 digs and two assists, while Tiller had 15 assists and ten digs. Addison Pusser also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.
West Florence's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for St. James, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season.
St. James skirted past West Florence 3-2 in their previous matchup back in September. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was White, who had 35 digs and two aces. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Sharks still be able to contain White? There's only one way to find out.
