Soccer Recap: Millbrook Snags Sixth Victory in Last Eight Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Millbrook had no problem doing just that on Monday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Fuquay - Varina Bengals a 2-0 shutout. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Millbrook's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Fuquay - Varina are ranked 104th).

Lucy Ellis and Gabrielle Sadosky scored both of Millbrook's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 28 goals.

Millbrook is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 38 goals over those eight matches. As for Fuquay - Varina, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-7-1.

Looking ahead, Millbrook will face off against Holly Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Holly Springs will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something Millbrook surely won't give up without a fight. Fuquay - Varina does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
