Girard won the last time they faced Erie and things went their way on Saturday too. The Trojans walked away with a 2-0 win over the Red Devils. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.
Girard easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-18.
Maddie Coester paced Girard's offense, picking up ten kills. Coester got some help from Emilee Hanks and her 13 assists.
Despite the loss, Erie still got an impressive performance from Lillee Gawel, who had 22 digs. Gawel is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Ashley Richenburg also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.
Girard's victory bumped their record up to 23-10. As for Erie, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-12.
Girard wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 win against Chanute on the 4th. As for Erie, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Labette County on the 4th.
