Two dominant backs in Aiden Zavala and Dk Garza are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Tivy Antlers will venture away from home to face off against the Alamo Heights Mules at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tivy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Alamo Heights likes a good challenge.
Tivy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past McCollum 63-14 last Friday. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Antlers just coasted through the last quarter.

Tivy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was President Calamaco, who picked up 137 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Calamaco's receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 113 receiving yards. Tivy also got a significant boost from Steven Collier, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 133 yards.
Tivy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 313 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Tivy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Josh Wheatfall led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Alamo Heights had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They blew past the Cowboys, posting a 69-7 win. That 62 point margin sets a new team best for the Mules this season.
Alamo Heights' win came from a few key players Tivy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Easton Stone, who threw for 184 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 31 yards and one score. Steffen Torreira also helped out as he racked up 119 rushing yards.
Tivy's record is now 6-2. As for Alamo Heights, their record now sits at 8-1.
The upcoming game will be a clash of competing strengths. Tivy has relied on air attacks this season and has averaged 318 passing yards per game. Alamo Heights, on the other hand, has relied on a stout run game: they average 282.6 rushing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Friday? There's only one way to find out.
Tivy was taken down by Alamo Heights 39-7 in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. Can the Antlers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
